High-Achiever That Struggles With Worry, Self-Doubt, and Perfectionism?
You are dependable and seen as a problem solver. Even though it feels good to be the “go-to person” when you have a problem, you keep it bottled up inside because you don’t want to be seen as a failure or incapable. Optimistic high achieving people think their problems will just pass or that other people need more help than them. Perhaps you can relate. You find it difficult to control worrying, fear the uncertainties of life, and try to control every single detail of your life.
The truth is that worry does NOT prevent bad stuff from happening. If you frequently feel tired, have trouble sleeping, or feel tense anxiety is impacting your life negatively.
The Effects Of Stress On The Body & Mind
Do any of the following resonate with you?
You replay social interactions negatively and are self-critical.
You constantly strive to be perfect and ignore your personal needs.
You feel tense, nervous, irritable, and have trouble concentrating.
You feel lonely because you prioritize success and this leaves very little time to spend with friends and family.
You use alcohol, tobacco, and/or illicit drugs to manage your stress.
Therapy Helps You Manage Difficult Emotions
Imagine a life where you could...
Face your fears and stop avoiding them.
Feel anxious and still do whatever you need to do.
Know how to manage uncomfortable thoughts and feelings.
Speak up in social settings and focus on the present moment instead of the anxiety.
Accept what you have control over and what you don’t.
Have More Control of Your Anxious Feelings
Therapy will teach you to label emotions so you don’t waste precious time worrying about the same thing over and over again. Research shows that when you label an emotion, the part of your brain in charge of assessing danger becomes less active. This means that you lower the chance of feeling physical stress in your body. Often times the intensity of your physical symptoms is misleading.
I will show you how to respond to emotions in your body with mindful self-compassion. Here is a link to an article about the benefits of mindful self-compassion on overall wellbeing. https://self-compassion.org/wp-content/uploads/publications/Neff&Costigan.pdf
How Therapy for Anxiety Works
Therapy sessions consist of weekly 50-minute, one-on-one sessions that help you work through your concerns. I will teach you cognitive behavior therapy and mindful self-compassion. You will use these skills inside and outside of the session.
