How Long Will I Be in Therapy?

On average, new clients start seeing improvement within eight to ten sessions. After that, the frequency of sessions may change to fit your specific needs.

For the first six weeks, weekly therapy sessions are highly recommended  Why? Frequent sessions are vital to building the two key factors in an effective therapy relationship: trust and safety. I want to help you meet your goals as quickly and effectively as possible - saving you both time and money. Regular weekly sessions upfront keep us focused on your main concerns and specific therapy goals.

After those first two months of regular weekly sessions, I often see clients become more confident, being able to handle what life throws their way.  Next, they may choose to go into a maintenance phase regarding the frequency of sessions meeting biweekly, monthly, or once per quarter.

Do You Take Insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider.  I do not bill insurance. This means that if you have out-of-network benefits in your policy you may submit a super-bill, which I will provide to you each month, to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.  I accept major credit cards, health savings account cards, and flexible spending account cards.

How Do I Discover What My Insurance Will Cover?

To find out what your insurance may cover, contact your insurance and ask if you have out-of-network mental health coverage.

You may also want to mention the type of license that I have to ensure services with my type of credential are covered. I am a clinical social worker and my State of Indiana license number is 34008353A.

Other things you may want to ask about are:

  • What is your deductible is

  • What your co-insurance payment will be

  • How many visits do you get per year

  • If you need authorization for your visits

  • Details on how to submit a super-bill

Contact me if you would like more guidance on how to figure out what your insurance will cover.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises call 1-800-985-3059.
